Day 5 on 21 Days of Prayer

Video Transcript

Welcome, everybody to Day 5 of 21 Days of Prayer. Today we are praying for God’s continued blessing on Shirley Baptist Church.

Have you ever felt discriminated against or left out? Maybe you have been the one who has actually looked down upon someone else who was different from you.

As the early church in Acts expanded beyond the Jewish culture and the original followers of Jesus, we need to see that it was a difficult and gradual transition to make those who were once outsiders (i.e., not Jesus disciples) feel completely included and equal in the movement. But we know that Jesus’ message of love, hope, and freedom is for everyone, and it is our charge as followers of Jesus to not just sit on the side-lines while someone else ministers, but to each follow the call to minister to the people that God has placed in the path of our lives. To be the whole life disciples He calls us to be. So friends please pray today for those who serve in the New Dawn Centre, The Language classes for internationals, M&M’s, The Mini Market.

Pray for God’s continued blessing on Shirley Baptist.

Read Acts 6:1 – 7:60

But with the believers multiplying rapidly, there were rumblings of discontent. Those who spoke only Greek complained that their widows were being discriminated against, that they were not being given as much food in the daily distribution as the widows who spoke Hebrew. So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. “We should spend our time preaching, not administering a feeding programme,” they said. “Now look around among yourselves, dear brothers, and select seven men, wise and full of the Holy Spirit, who are well thought of by everyone; and we will put them in charge of this business. Then we can spend our time in prayer, preaching, and teaching. Acts 6:1-4 (TLB)
